Busy Jaycee Engle adds rodeo queen title to resume

Winning the 2014 Owyhee County Fair and Rodeo Queen title was just the icing on the cake for Melba’s Jaycee Engle.  The 16-year-old daughter of John and Jackie Engle received her crown and sash from 2013 queen Miranda Wilkins of Nampa during the Friday night performance of the Owyhee County Rodeo.
Her horse ride in Saturday’s parade through downtown Homedale capped a busy fair week.
Engle won the crown in her first year of eligibility and was able to pull off the victory while staying active in other facets of fair week in Homedale.
The president of the Owyhee Outlaws 4-H club, Engle competed in the Senior Division of the Owyhee County 4-H Horse Show on Monday and Tuesday of fair week. She was also active in the Ranch Horse show on Wednesday of fair week.
She won blue ribbons in horse judging, oral presentations and bareback equitation and was also second in the Level 3 cow work competition.
During the fair and rodeo queen competition, she impressed the judges in the interview and attire portion Monday night and returned Wednesday aboard Reuban to compete in the horsemanship aspect.
In addition to her 4-H responsibilities, Engle is active in Melba FFA and is a Melba Friends Church Youth Group student leader and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She is also active in dance.
