Caldwell cowgirl reigns as Owyhee Queen

Caldwell’s Leslie Amber Winkelman was crowned the 2008-09 Queen for the Owyhee County Fair and Rodeo on Aug. 8 in the rodeo arena in Homedale.
She will return to Homedale and the Owyhee County Fairgrounds next August as the reigning queen.
The daughter of Mark and Sara Winkelman, Leslie was the youngest of the three competitors in the field. She was crowned the 64th queen after a competition against Calla Renfro, 22, of Wilder and Michelle Lynn Siegmann, 18, of Caldwell.
Leslie Winkelman rode Queen of de Cash (aka “Queen”) during the rodeo performances and also in the Aug. 9 parade, which was her first appearance after her coronation.
Winkelman has competed in high school rodeo at Caldwell High School, and also has been a member of the tennis team and debate team. She also competed in powder puff football.
Among her equine club affiliations are the American Quarter Horse Association, The Idaho State Horse Show Association and the National High School Rodeo Association.
She also has been involved in the Caldwell chapter of the Business Professionals of America.
She lists her church praise team and girls Bible study among her special interests. She also has served as a spokesmodel for Timson’s Photography Studio. She enjoys wakeboarding and volleyball.
